Is the coronavirus an opportunity or a threat?

The coronavirus outbreak is creating panic in the financial markets, a threat for some businesses and actually a great opportunity for others!

Retail and away from home businesses, events, tourism, and airlines are suffering, but in another hand, the fact that people will reduce travel, socializing and will stay home will boost other businesses...there is a change in people's needs...and businesses need to adapt quickly... Delivery services, remote work tools, conferencing apps, and virtual events, are already seeing an increase in their revenue...individual mobility services like e-scooters, bikes are likely to increase their revenue if they are able to come up with strategies to tackle this opportunity. Conferences shouldn't be canceling the events, they should be transforming those events in online conferences, and virtual tradeshows...Hotels can come up with virtual reality packages and with solutions that will allow tourists to stay, reducing or eliminating the interaction with staff and other people. Schools are being closed, but actually students can have online classes...there are several online teachings apps... In times like this, traditional companies that rely on a supply chain based in Asia, namely China, will need to come up with solutions, namely need to find local suppliers... locally produced food, fibers and so forth...even ways for people that are in quarantine to manufacture goods at home... All organizations that will be able to come up with solutions for people to reduce face2face interactions and for local manufacturing will surely see an increase in their revenue... Pharmaceutical multinationals need to find local suppliers to produce some of the medicines...hospitals will need negative pressure tech to increase the number of rooms to receive coronavirus patients. People that are in quarantine will need to produce their own food...so, urban farming systems and seed producers have an opportunity here... The coronavirus outbreak is a huge opportunity, the same way the financial crisis was an opportunity for all the sharing economy, having seen a rise of some of the most disruptive and successful businesses...some that will need to disrupt themselves now to survive the revenue decrease... Airbnb for instance...
